Windermere is a popular tourist destination in the Lake District, and during peak times can be very busy. This client needed a large bus shelter located by the train station, to provide shelter and protection from the elements to large numbers of passengers.
There were several elements that we had to incorporate into this design. The size was important, but it also needed to be a walk-through style so that there was plenty of space for passengers to wait comfortably and a natural queue to form. Full-length glazing in this shelter gives it an open feel, making it spacious for large numbers of people, and the slate roof and gray colour specified by the client ensure this shelter fits right in with the existing buildings around this location.
